The Start of Commercial Deployments in CBRS Shared Spectrum

Blog

You know that feeling you get when you finish a marathon – or any big life task that brings all of your training and expertise and resilience into one moment of splendid accomplishment?  That’s the euphoria I feel today as we announce that over 20 customers and partners are poised to begin commercial deployments using shared spectrum for the first time in history.

Unlike a marathon, this is not an individual accomplishment.  From our founding scientists Charles Clancy and Bob McGwier to our unsurpassed Federated Wireless team to our esteemed partners and customers, this journey has been in the making for seven years with some of the best and brightest minds in the wireless industry. The path has not always been clear, and there have certainly been obstacles along the way, but together we’ve built an ecosystem like none I’ve ever seen in my career, in a very short period of time. I applaud all of you.  I sincerely thank each of you.

And like any marathon, when I finish, I start thinking about the next one.  Of course this is not the end of a journey – it’s the start of one.  These early pioneers like JMA Wireless at American Dream Mall and Landmark Dividend with their Dallas Area Rapid Transit deployment are just starting to show us the innovative solutions that shared spectrum makes possible.  Stay tuned as we start to tell their stories that will inspire the next wave of 4G/5G wireless solutions.
